Pinedale Online is a visitor's guide to Pinedale, Wyoming. Pinedale is located approximately 80 miles south of Jackson Hole, and Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks. This little town of approximately 1,400 is nestled in the Upper Green River Valley between three mountain ranges and two wilderness areas. The Green and New Fork Rivers offer outstanding trout fishing. The Bridger Wilderness area, located in the Wind River Mountains and the Bridger-Teton National Forest, has over 1,300 lakes and hundreds of miles of streams and hiking trails. The rugged Gros Ventre Wilderness area is remote and offers spectactular secluded hiking and horseback riding experiences. The Wyoming Range is on the western side of the valley and home to Wyoming's largest elk herd, grizzly bears, wolves and many other wildlife species. Over 80% of the county is public land and also includes the famous Jonah Field and Pinedale Anticline with vast reserves of oil and natural gas.
